| September 30, 2010

AUGUSTA, Ga.  - Advanced Services for Pest Control of Augusta, Ga., hosted its 2nd Annual Bald for a Cause on Sept. 10, 2010.

This year the company managed to raise nearly $10,000 in one afternoon. The key components of the success included a incredible promotional effort by the company’s marketing team of Dena Thomas and Kristi Proctor, the Buzz on Biz Network and Beazley Broadcasting Company.

Justin Annis and Bo Thomas raised $1,000 each within their personal networks to fund their effort. Many contributions between $5 and $100 were collected.  Advanced Services hosted the event by providing pizza, the Cruising Sundae (an ice cream sundae bar with 35 toppings), and other refreshments.  Edge Salon and owner David Towles provided 4 head shaving booths and they managed to shave 37 heads that day. Chick-Fil-A of the Augusta Mall provided food and certificates for a free combo lunch certificate for each of our participants.  Advanced Services’ staff and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society helped by working the event. One Advanced Services customer made a $5,000 donation, in exchange for local talk show host, Austin Rhodes, getting his head shaved.  Advanced Services contributed $2,500.

Advanced Services has passed the $55,000 mark for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Light the Night, since its involvement began in 2004. The company has passed $16,000 for this year by: Raising around $5,000 from SpringFest on the Savannah; about $10,000 for Bald for a Cause; plus other contributions.

Future fundraising efforts include: 1) “Don’t Just Survive . . . Thrive” business seminar and Lunch, which includes lunch and solving 5 of your greatest business problems. 2) “Cruisin for a Cure” on the Patriot River Boat on the Savannah River; and 3) The BugBabes take over Malibu Jack’s, where all of the tips for that night go to the LLS.
