ATLANTA –  Ted Veitch, president of the Norcross-based Georgia Pest Control Association (GPCA), announced its 10th annual participation in the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s "Light The Night Walks."

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) relies heavily on funds raised through the GPCA. Since 2004, member companies of the GPCA have raised $876,000 to help fight blood cancers.  Their goal is to reach the $1 million mark this year to celebrate their decade of participation with the Light The Night Walks.

“The Georgia Pest Control Association is proud to partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Light The Night Walk,” said Veitch. “Light The Night provides a way for our association to work together to raise funds for cancer research and allows us to give back in the communities we serve. I’m excited to announce we raised over $77,000 for LLS in 2012 throughout Georgia.”

Members that are joining forces to fight cancer are the same companies that come together to fight pest problems. Allgood Pest Solutions, Advanced Services, HomeTec Exterminating, Active Pest Solutions, Knox Pest Control, Terminix and Future Services are just a few of the participating companies that raise funds by hosting events, soliciting customers for donations, fundraising through their employees and sponsoring the GPCA Light The Night Walks. Many other pest companies and vendors support the partnership through the annual GPCA Golf Tournament.

“We are delighted to have the Georgia Pest Control Association back for a tenth straight year and support their goal of reaching the one millionth dollar raised by 2013,” said Kelly Dolan, Executive Director of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Georgia Chapter. “Associations like the GPCA are great partners because they work with so many companies who are able to involve employees, vendors, customers and families, all with a common goal.”

Light The Night is a nationwide evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. In Georgia, Light The Night’s fundraising efforts have grown tremendously, from $460,000 in 2003 to more than $2 million in 2012. Learn more: www.lightthenight.org/ga.
