Rose Pest Solutions Announces Pair of Promotions

Mark VanderWerp was promoted to Manager of Education and Training, while John Steenstra was promoted to Grand Rapids District Supervisor.

TROY, Mich. – Rose Pest Solutions, Troy, Mich., announced that Mark VanderWerp has been promoted to manager of education and training. He has been employed with the company since 2006 and previously held the position of district supervisor in Grand Rapids, Mich.

“Mark has been a tremendous asset for Rose Pest Solutions and I am confident his outstanding knowledge, expertise and management skills will help him succeed in this new position,” said Russ Ives, president of Rose Pest Solutions. “As the new manager of education and taining, Mark will ensure our employees remain the best and brightest our industry has to offer, for the benefit of our clients.”

In this new position, VanderWerp will relocate to the company’s Troy, Mich.-based headquarters where he will oversee the training of all employees across three states. VanderWerp will be responsible for managing Rose’s extensive online training, classroom training, and also Rose Pest Solutions’ annual training conference, which features industry-leading educators and researchers.

A member of the Entomological Society of America and the Michigan Entomological Society, VanderWerp is a board-certified entomologist who graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in entomology. He currently resides in Grand Rapids with his wife.

John Steenstra

Rose Pest Solutions also promoted John Steenstra to district supervisor in Grand Rapids, Mich. He has been employed with the company since 2004 and previously held the position of service technician.

“John has demonstrated the knowledge, care and client management skills to manage some very complex and challenging accounts,” said Russ Ives, president of Rose Pest Solutions. “I am confident that as district supervisor, John will continue to ensure our customers receive the highest quality service.”

In this new position, Steenstra will oversee a large market of clients from Grand Rapids to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He will manage the route planning, quality assurance, inventory, training and customer relations for the Greater Grand Rapids area.

In 2011, Steenstra received a nomination for the Copesan Technician of Year award. He also has been twice awarded as a Rose Pest Solutions “Technician of the Month” and is a three-time “High Five” recipient, an honor awarded each year to employees who annually increase clientele and revenue. In the last year, he has earned his Associated Certified Entomologist (ACE) credentials. Steenstra currently resides in Rockford, Mich.
