MONROE, N.C. — Founded in 1939, Carolina Pest Management is proud to celebrate its 75th Anniversary. What started as a small family-owned company by David Dodd, Sr. has grown into a leading pest management company in Union County and continues the family tradition with the third and fourth generations of the Dodd family.

“My great-grandfather founded this company with the desire to help others and provide jobs for our community, and it is that tradition that we continue today at Carolina Pest Management,” said Kristin Dodd-Tarleton, president of Carolina Pest Management.  “Today we continue to use the same principles that he started 75 years ago.  Our company is committed to improving customer satisfaction, protecting our environment and pursuing continuing education in the pest management field for our employees.”

In 1939, retired Methodist minister David Dodd, Sr. started a new career as a pest management operator by opening Carolina Chemical and Pest Control.  In 1951, David Dodd, Jr. took control of the company and moved it to its current location in Monroe. The company is now in its 4th generation of family ownership with Kristin Dodd as President and Sarah Dodd as Vice President.

In 2003, Carolina Pest purchased an existing pest control company and opened its first branch office in Rockingham, NC, operating as Carolina Sandhills Pest Management.  A second pest control company operating in Wadesboro, NC was acquired by Carolina Pest in 2008 and integrated into the Monroe and Rockingham branch offices.

Carolina Pest Management is an active member of the business and pest management industries.  It is an active member of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), the North Carolina Pest Management Association (NCPMA), the Better Business Bureau, as well as several local Chambers of Commerce.  The company is also a proud member of the PestOne organization, a network of some of the top independent pest management companies in the United States.  In 2007 Carolina Pest earned the distinguished Quality Pro designation, which recognizes excellence in pest management.
