Further demonstrating the strength and momentum of his bid for the 10th Congressional District in Illinois, Robert Dold became the first candidate to win an endorsement from a major national Republican leader. Former Vice President Dan Quayle announced his support for Dold, and said he will come to the district to campaign on his behalf.

“Bob is the right candidate at the right time for the Republican Party,” Quayle said. “He is a strong fiscal conservative who has real world business experience. Bob’s experience is in creating jobs, not negating them. Bob understands the difficulties facing businesses in dealing with increasing taxes and rising health care costs. In Bob Dold, the voters of the 10th District will have a representative who listens to their concerns and needs, and knows how to get things done. Bob is the right candidate to represent the Republican Party this fall in the general election.”

Quayle announced plans to visit the 10th District on Thursday, Jan. 14, where he will be endorsing Dold. “I am impressed by the type of campaign Bob is running, and by the wide support he has at the grassroots level. The township endorsements he has won tells me that Bob is connecting with people, and that’s what public service is all about.”

Dold is the only candidate in the field to have received grassroots endorsements. He has been endorsed by all of the district’s local townships that have endorsed a candidate, including the New Trier Township Republican Organization, Elk Grove Township Republican Organization, and Vernon Township Republican Organization.

“I am humbled by former Vice President Quayle’s endorsement of my candidacy, and I am honored to have the confidence of such a widely respected and internationally known political figure,” Dold said. “I am very grateful to have the former Vice President’s support.”
