Always Active Technology is the newest innovation to the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination.

| October 26, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS — Dow AgroSciences announces the latest innovation to the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System — Always Active technology. A new bait matrix, annual monitoring and LID (Locate and Identify) technology combine to present a revolutionary termite bait system.

“One of the most gratifying aspects of the Sentricon System has been the opportunity for ongoing innovations,” says Dave Maurer, portfolio marketing leader for the Sentricon System. “Developing new concepts, like Always Active technology, and working with our industry partners to bring those ideas to market has meant added value to consumers.”

In April 2010, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency granted Dow AgroSciences annual monitoring for Recruit HD termite bait. It is the first and only termite bait to receive a label that allows annual monitoring. The Sentricon System with Always Active technology can help Authorized Operators increase route efficiency and reduce labor costs since they are only required to service Sentricon stations on a yearly basis, the company reports.

LID technology. LID technology is a labor-saving enhancement that helps technicians service sites with no worries about missing Sentricon® stations covered by grass or landscaping. LID technology uses a radio frequency identification (RFID) sensor in the top cap to give each Sentricon station a unique identity. The RFID electronics have been used with ESP™ technology since 2001, making service visits faster and easier.

Scanning a top cap is done with an Interrogator™ device. It helps technicians locate the Sentricon stations without giving false readings due to metal objects in the soil.

Recruit HD termite bait. Highly durable Recruit HD termite bait contains a revolutionary bait matrix that extends durability throughout all soil conditions. It also contains 2.3 times more active ingredient than Recruit IV termite bait, more than enough to eliminate a typical termite colony. In termite palatability tests, Recruit HD termite bait was preferred over wood and became even more preferable and palatable over time, Dow AgroSciences reports.. Recruit HD termite bait is immediately available to termites in every Sentricon station at installation. Termites can begin feeding on Recruit HD termite bait as soon as they find the Sentricon station and then share the bait with other termites, beginning the colony elimination process and offering constant property protection from termites.

“Always Active technology gives Authorized Operators a new option in termite control while continuing to meet the needs of the homeowner,” says Lindsay Farley, product manager for Dow AgroSciences structural pest management.
