Europest Scheduled for April 22-23 in Budapest, Hungary

| February 1, 2010

The third Europest event, jointly organised by CEPA (the European Pest Management Industry Association) and the Hungarian Pest Control Association (MaKOSZ) will be held on April 22-23, 2010 at the Mercure Budapest Buda hotel in Budapest, Hungary.

Building on the success of the previous two Europest gatherings in Rome and London, this event aims to raise standards within the industry by providing a forum for information exchange, business networking plus the sharing of skills and knowledge. As Gunnar Akerblom, CEPA President, explains: “Europest provides an opportunity for the European pest control industry to meet and discuss the key political factors affecting us all. CEPA aims to unify the European industry and take the initiative on such important matters as a European Standard for Pest Management. We are delighted to hold this Europest in Budapest and wish to thank MaKOSZ, the Hungarian Association, for hosting it.”

The over-riding objective for these CEPA events is to be a single unifying occasion – representatives and individuals from all sectors of the industry are more than welcome, including national associations, manufacturers, distributors, leading service companies and consultants.

The program for Europest in April 2010 falls into two halves. The first focuses on the current structure and activity within the pest control industry and explores how the various international associations can work together for mutual benefit. There will be an update on CEPA activities, including the project with the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) which aims to develop the Rome Protocol and current national standards into a Europe-wide set of standards for the industry. This session concludes with what promises to be a highly thought provoking presentation addressing where the industry sees itself in 2020.

The second half of the program addresses the technical challenges facing the industry. The latest thinking, techniques and information concerning such international pests as bedbugs and mosquitoes will be discussed. These sessions will be led by a highly qualified and international set of speakers. Delegates will be requested to participate in, what is hoped, will be a highly proactive round-table discussion.

The program concludes in the afternoon of April 23 with both the annual CEPA General Assembly and that of the French National Association: Chambre Syndicale 3D.

Throughout the event, there will be simultaneous translation for English and Hungarian. Simultaneous translation may be available in other languages, depending on the number of pre-registered delegates.

The location for Europest is the four-star Mercure Budapest Buda hotel. This is situated close to the river Danube and just below the famous Buda castle. Proceedings begin at lunchtime on April 22. On the evening of day one, there will be a cruise and welcome dinner on-board a boat on the river Danube. And on the second night (for an additional fee) there will be a trip out into the local countryside which includes the chance for Hungarian wine tasting and dinner. Should delegates wish to stay an extra night, an optional sightseeing tour can be taken, so as to enjoy the sights of this beautiful and historic city and environs.
