What have you found to be the bait that gets you the best results on snap traps for rats? We cannot use peanut butter, so what else do you use?

Nutella is one on my favorites.

I think Provoke is considered hypoallergenic or at least isn't made with nuts and works well.

Honey Nut Cheerios do great if you are using a trap with a bait cup like a t-rex. Plus you can snack on them between stops Anxious

I haven't had good results using provoke. Why are you not able to use peanut butter?

Usually because of allergies.

I'm reaching back to my childhood days of strict vegetarian raising, but have you tried Tahini? It is made from ground sesame seeds. Should be available in most grocery stores in the organic or health food section, but if not check any health food store.
I've also left unset traps for a few days for rats to "get used to them" as a new but non-harmful alteration to their foraging habits. After a few days of no adverse effects, they become used to them. Schedule a follow up and set the un-baited traps along their regular travel areas and you should get a least a few of them.

In the spring I pulled 53 rats out of a home and I used bacon grease in the T-Rexs.
