BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Roger Graham, general manager, Arrow Exterminators, Broken Arrow, Okla., recently became an Associate Certified Entomologist (A.C.E.).

Graham has been in the pest control industry for about 18 years, and has experience with both termite work and general pest control. He is a certified applicator in three categories and has specialized training in structural pest and chemical composition.

As general manager, Graham oversees all business operations, including training, human resources, purchasing, routing, payroll, safety and compliance. Arrow has 50 employees and covers most of eastern Oklahoma.

“I think becoming an A.C.E. definitely raises the bar. I thought I had a good base of knowledge, but preparing for the test, showed me there is so much more out there, that most of us are just skimming the top,” Graham said. “The more I have learned, has enabled me to teach my technicians to more effective and efficient.  I also have had a wealth of support from my proctor, Dr. Brad Kard (Oklahoma State University Professor) and many other professionals. So, I know there people out there that are willing and happy to help, if you are willing to step it up a notch."

The Associate Certified Entomologist exam is a certification offered by the Entomological Society of America. Associate Certified Entomologists (ACEs) are those who have passed at least one rigorous examination to test their knowledge. They generally specialize in pest control. ACEs also agree to ascribe to a code of ethical behavior, and – as part of their certification renewal process – must annually provide a copy of a current pesticide applicator’s license.
