ORLANDO, Fla. — Massey Services and Dollar Tree, operator of $1 price-point variety stores, were recently honored by the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association (CFHLA) for a partnership to assist Orange and Osceola County Public Schools’ homeless students.

Massey Services and Dollar Tree have been working together for years and joined forces to collect personal hygiene items for the more than 4,500 homeless children who attend schools in the two districts. Over $23,000 worth of soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and other hygiene items were collected.   Donation boxes with signage encouraging contributions were placed in more than 40 Central Florida Dollar Tree retail stores.  In addition to the donations received from Dollar Tree, Massey Services’ team members and other commercial customers also contributed items to the drive.  Massey Services collected and transported the donations to the school districts’ Homeless Services Department, who will sort, categorize and distribute these items to the Orange and Osceola’s homeless students.

“This is an example of how our relationship with Orange County Public Schools is not just about business but extends to supporting students and people in our community who are less fortunate,” said Tony Massey, president and COO of Massey Services.  “We would like to thank Dollar Tree and all of their customers who contributed to this effort.   These donations allow us to provide basic care items that are often taken for granted and make a difference in the lives of many children.”

Dollar Tree spokesperson, Chelle Davis, adds “We are honored to participate in this program and thank our customers for their generous contributions.”

The donation drive is part of Massey Services ongoing commitment to the Adopt-A-School program. Earlier in the year, Massey partnered with Adopt-A-School’s participant Killarney Elementary to reward students for outstanding work completed in the Massey Math Miles program.
