NJPMA 64th Annual Clinic, Trade Show & Clambake another Successful Event

This year a SRO crowd of 527, including 49 exhibitors, filled the main auditorium of Cook College of Rutgers University to hear, among others, Terminix's Fred Strickland on “Training for Pest Control from the Customer Perspective.”

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Defying a weather forecast of severe thunder storms and high winds the NJPMA Clambake (held on Aug. 18), as it is commonly known, went off with sunny skies most of the day. A common argument among members is if it has ever rained on the third Thursday of August when this event is held each year. Some say they can remember 29 years while well-known industry consultant Doug Mampe claims it to be 41 years of no rain on this day.

The Clinic, Trade Show and Clambake comes together with more than simply luck and requires almost a year of planning to make this one of the biggest one-day trade shows in the East. This year a SRO crowd of 527, among them 49 exhibitors, filled the main auditorium of Cook College of Rutgers University to hear Fred Strickland of Terminix speak on “Training for Pest Control from the Customer Perspective.”

Strickland was followed by Jeff Tucker, who covered Stink Bugs and Fleas. Rick Vetter entertained the crowd with “Spider Bite Paranoia” and Stuart Mitchell covered the “Physics Behind Effective Fly Control. At the concurrent WDO sessions Nisus’ Janet Kintz Early spoke on “Wood Destroying Beetle Accounts: Should you Stay or Run” and was followed by attorney Greg Crosslin, who gained everyone's attention when he spoke on “Preventing WDI Lawsuits,” as did Doug Mampe, whose presentation was on “Handling Retreatments for Subterranean Termites.”

The afternoon session featured Dini Miller, Ph.D who spoke on Bed bus and Robert Corrigan, Ph.D. whose presentation was “Future of Pest Control".

Close to 500 attendee were then served lobster or steak and all the fixings within 23 minutes.
