TORONTO - Purity Pest Control Limited and Common Scents Solutions introduced it’s newest four-legged employee, “Inspector Luke”, a pure fox red retriever acquired from Action Canine Institute, Manistee, Mich.

Luke has been teamed up with her new handler Angelique de Roode. Angelique and Luke are the third certified K-9 bed bug detection team employed by Purity Pest Control Limited.

“The response we have received has been overwhelming and we must look to the future if we are to keep up with the demand for K-9 bed bug inspections” said Michael Goldman, president of Purity Pest Control Ltd. and Common Scents Solutions, who now owns Kody, Alexa and Heidi, all of which are certified bed bug detection dogs. “The bed bug problem in North America is only going to get worse before it gets better.”

The Common Scents Inspection Team consists of 3 key players:
•    Inspector Luke. Luke is a pure fox red retriever from Green Collar K-9 Development out of Greensboro, N.C., and trained and certified by Jim Rutherford of Action Canine Institute out of
Manistee, Michigan. Luke has been specifically trained to detect bed bugs from a variety of locations and situations. Luke has proven that he is ready for real life situation inspections. Luke and Angelique will be re-certified annually by the International Association of Canine Pest Inspectors.
•    Angelique de Roode is a master trainer by profession. She was a K-9 officer with the Dutch military and has for the past 22 years been training dogs for bomb and drug detection as well as police patrol dogs. Her dogs are deployed around the world and her dogs have scored well in the Schutzhund and KNPV, Ringsport and Personal Protection disciplines. Angelique and Luke have been certified to detect bed bugs. Together, Angelique and Luke are an internationally recognized K-9 and handler team.
•    Michael Goldman owns Purity Pest Control Limited, a local GTA-based pest management company that now has 3 K-9 detection teams inspecting for bed bugs as well as termites. He is a certified trainer and handler.
