Terminix Announces Scholarship Winners

The Carlos and Gloria Cantu Leadership Scholarship recipients for 2011 are Sequoia Doetch, Joanna Hendricks and Bethany Nicholson.

MEMPHIS, Tenn.  –Three children of Terminix associates have been awarded college scholarships based on their outstanding community leadership and strong academics. The Carlos and Gloria Cantu Leadership Scholarship recipients for 2011 are Sequoia Doetch, Joanna Hendricks and Bethany Nicholson.
 
Doetch received $5,000 as the first place recipient. She is a graduate of Lecanto High School in Florida and plans to major in Communications at Flagler College. Her father, Paul Doetch, is an associate at the Ocala branch in North Central Florida. Hendricks won $3,000 for second place. She intends to major in Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga and is a graduate of Cordova High School in Tennessee. She is the daughter of Barbara Hendricks who works in national accounts in Memphis. Nicholson earned $1,000 for third place. She graduated from Sikeston High School in Missouri and is attending Harding University to major in English Composition. Nicholson’s father, Kevin, is a service professional for the Sikeston, Mo. branch.
 
The scholarship is named after the late Carlos Cantu, former president of Terminix and former president and CEO of The ServiceMaster Company – the parent company of Terminix – and his wife Gloria. The scholarship has been awarded by Terminix since 2000.
 
"The Cantu Leadership Scholarship allows Terminix to invest in our associates, their families and the community as a whole, and we're proud to award deserving students for the 12th year in a row," said Tom Brackett, Terminix president and chief operating officer.
