‘Mak (as in McKale) the Mouse’ Selected as Truly Nolen Blimp’s Name

The Truly Nolen blimp now has a name to go with its trademark ears and tail thanks to one local Sahuaro High School sophomore.

TUCSON, Ariz. —  The Truly Nolen blimp now has a name to go with its trademark ears and tail thanks to one local Sahuaro High School sophomore. Sam Williams’ entry of “Mak (as in McKale) the Mouse” was selected from over 100 entries in the “Name the Truly Blimp” contest. Other finalist names included “Flighty Mouse” and” Willard the Wildcat.”

Williams’ prize package includes two tickets to this Saturday’s Southern Cal-Arizona men’s basketball game, halftime recognition of Williams during the game, University of Arizona mousepad, visor, knit cap, polo shirts and Coach Sean Miller bobblehead, $10 Frost Gelato gift card and $100 cash prize from Truly Nolen, one of the nation’s largest family-owned pest control companies.

Since debuting this past December at McKale Center, the in-game 11-foot-long remote controlled blimp from Truly Nolen has created some excitement distributing free tickets to future Arizona Wildcats games, the Fiesta Bowl BCS game and coupons from high in the rafters.

Michelle Senner, director of Marketing and Advertising for Truly Nolen and one of the Wildcats’ biggest fans and ardent supporters, was very excited about the winning name as well as the overall participation.

“We recognize children and university students are creative, yet we hadn’t done an online contest like this before,” said Senner. “As a company that uses social media on a regular basis, we couldn’t be happier with the amount of people that elected to participate and we’re researching the possibility of more online contests in the future.”
