INDIANAPOLIS - Recently, a giant termite was found in Times Square and on the Las Vegas Strip. However, there’s no need to worry about a giant termite infestation just yet - that termite only has taste buds for Recruit HD termite bait, part of the new Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System with Always Active technology.
While the termite only has eyes for the Sentricon System with Always Active technology, the ad was definitely eye-catching for the thousands of people walking in Times Square and on the Las Vegas strip during the three-day run of the ad. The artwork features an oversized termite, licking his “lips” while heading toward a Sentricon station with the words, “The Sentricon System for termites. Now yummier than wood.”
“We are thrilled with how much termites love our new bait, and this new advertisement is a great way to spread that message,” says Lindsay Farley, a product marketing manager with Dow AgroSciences.
It is estimated that more than 6 million people will have seen the ad during its simultaneous broadcast in Times Square and on the Las Vegas Strip - more than 72 hours of broadcast. The ad will run once per month for the rest of 2011.
The idea behind Recruit HD termite bait, which is the bait used in the Sentricon System with Always Active technology, was to create a long-lasting bait material that could stand up to the elements in the underground Sentricon stations where termites will feed on it. Researchers at Dow AgroSciences developed a patent-pending cellulose-based bait formulation that in real-world tests has remained effective for multiple years. The bait performs even better than researchers hoped, standing up to heat, cold, wet and dry conditions, the company reports. If mold forms on the bait, so much the better. In fact, in side-by-side tests in which termites could choose between wood or the revolutionary bait, termites readily preferred the bait.
