DAVIE, Fla. — The 25th annual School of Structural Fumigation, hosted by the University of Florida, is scheduled for Nov. 12-16. The school is open to pest management professionals who are interested in learning more about structural fumigation to control pests such as drywood termites and bed bugs.

“At Fumigation School, we cover the technical aspects of the fumigation process,” says Steve Niedzwiedzki, sales representative for Vikane gas fumigant and a fumigation school instructor for 15 years. “We talk about the current regulatory aspects of the industry, the different conditions they need to be aware of, equipment, vehicles and many other things that tie into their business. They also get to observe a fumigation and do some hands-on training. Basically, we try to make it challenging, intellectual and fun.”

The week-long course concludes with a general exam to ensure students understand the concepts and processes that have been introduced to them during the course. Students are still subject to their own state’s exam for certification.
