In Memoriam: Jim Augustine

Augustine, longtime owner of Augustine Exterminators, Overland Park, Kan., died on Tuesday, at age 77.

Jim Augustine, longtime owner of Augustine Exterminators, Overland Park, Kan., died on Tuesday, at age 77.

Augustine’s involvement in the pest control industry dates back to 1959, when he became manager of Lystad Exterminating, Wichita, Kan. He was maager of Lystad’s for four years and then president of Mission Exterminating another three and-a-half years,

Jim and wife Margaret started Augustine Exterminators during the summer of 1966 and worked from their home. What started as a one-person operation has now become a large family-owned business that employs more than 30 people.

Augustine was president of the Kansas Pest Control Association in 1973; he served on the board of directors for the KPCA and was inducted into the KPCA Hall of Fame in 2000.

Jim was married to Margaret in Kansas City, Kan., on Nov. 29, 1952. They have five children, 17 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
