Purdue Entomology Department Announces New Faculty Member

Dr. Ameya Gondhaleker joined the staff as a research asssistant professor.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue University's Entomology department has added Dr. Ameya Gondhaleker as a research asssistant professor.

Gondhaleker's interestes and goals include:
 

  • Investigaing molecular mechanisms of insecticide resistance in German cockroaches and bed bugs with an ultimagte goal of finding ways to overcome resistance;
  • Unvravel mechanisms underlying various physiological phenomena in urban insects using next-generation sequencing, proteomics and functional genomics
  • Conduct basic research for enhancing the efficacy of non-chemical techniques used for managing urban pests


Gondhaleker brings more than five years of experience in basic and applied urban entomology research. A majority of his previous research has been conducted in collaboration with the pest management industry.
