Bugs Cause Stink in North Carolina

Teresa Harrison, an employee at Sawyer Exterminating in Burlington, N.C., estimated her company had 25 to 30 calls received wtihin the last two months, approximately 200 percent more than the number of calls received last year concerning stink bugs.

The number of brown marmorated stink bugs has increased since it was first spotted in the state in 2009, frustrating home and business owners.

"They're considered more a nuisance pest in our industry," said Lee Smith, member of the board of directors of the North Carolina Pest Management Association. "They're not going to attack a person or damage a home."
