Wanchai, Hong Kong — Sunil Surkund, president of the Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Managers Associations, passed away in late November.
Surkund served as executive director and company secretary of Pest Control (India) Pvt. Ltd and managing director of PCI Environmental Services Pvt. Ltd.
Surkund worked for PCI for 39 years helping to build the leaders in the Indian pest management industry as the industry developed and matured.
A graduate of Commerce and Law from Bombay University, Surkund was a past president of the Indian Pest Control Association and was a member of its managing committee for the last 17 years. He represented the association at various forums and committees formed by the government concerning the industry over this period.
Within the global pest management industry, Surkund represented the Indian industry within the Federation of Asian & Oceania Pest Managers Association (FAOPMA) executive for many years. He was elected vice president in 2006 and president elect in 2008. He was named president in Beijing in 2009.
Outside of the industry, Surkund was a proud Rotarian and a long-serving member of the Rotary Club of Shivaji Park, Mumbai, where he occupied various positions in the club before being elected president in 2003-04.
Surkund leaves behind wife Smita, son Tanay and daughter Shibani.
