Protect-A-Bed and Mattress Direct Help Disabled Veterans

Companies donate $4,000 to Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit dedicated to building homes for disabled service members.

CHICAGO, Ill. - Mattress Direct and Protect-A-Bed presented a $4,000 check to Homes For Our Troops, a national non-profit organization dedicated to assisting severely injured veterans and their immediate families. 

To conincide with the Independence Day, Protect-A-Bed and Mattress Direct encouraged Facebook fans to show support for veterans through social media. From June 30 to July 15, fans showed support by "liking" various Facebook pages, photos and messages.

"We were proud to join forces with Mattress Direct on such a great initiative," said Clive Goldin, president of Protect-A-Bed. "This money helps the families of those brave men and women who have sacrificed to protect our country. We were very pleased with the outpouring of support."

The donation to Homes For Our Troops helped fund the organization's mission to build specially adapted homes for service members who have been severely injured in combat since Sept. 11, 2001. 

"We are very proud of our military and we're excited that this donation allows our veterans to sleep a little better in a new, more comfortable home," said Lee Burns, president of Mattress Direct.

Recently, Homes For Our Troops has helped build homes for four injures service members in Louisiana. "We have been able to build over 100 homes across the country through the generosity and patriotism of organizations like Protect-A-Bed and Mattress Direct, that have stepped up to do their part in aiding our severely injured veterans," said Kenneth O. Preston, president of Homes Four Our Troops. "We are humbled by the continued support received as a result of fundraisers held across the country, and we are proud Homes For Our Troops is considered such a Worth Cause.
