Months after Memphis-based The ServiceMaster Co. sold off its TruGreen LandCare subsidiary, the new ServiceMaster CEO said TruGreen lawn services has to improve its performance for investors and for clients of the lawn maintenance service, according to an article in the Memphis Daily News.
ServiceMaster CEO Hank Mullany was blunt about what he considers TruGreen’s poor performance as well as plans for expanding ServiceMaster’s reach.
“These results simply aren’t acceptable,” Mullany told investors and analysts Wednesday, May 25, on a first quarter financial results conference call.
The ServiceMaster Co. reported increased first quarter 2011 revenues of $615 million, up 5.9 percent from the first quarter of 2010.
The company’s first quarter earnings call Wednesday was the first since Mullany became CEO in April.
Interim Chief Financial Officer David Martin termed the results “modest growth in revenue and operating performance” for a quarter that is traditionally “the least important reporting period” for the company.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The ServicePro.net, developers of ServSuite.net and ServBasic, announced the addition of their website services to the list of business solutions being offered to pest management and service industry professionals. Although the company has been providing this service to their current clients for more than two years now, ServicePro.net has made the decision to offer their website and online marketing management services to the rest of the pest management and service industry.
Having its start from a lawn care and pest control company, ServicePro.net knows exactly how important it is to be visible on the World Wide Web. This, plus its current foundation of information technology, makes it a natural progression for the company to start offering website design and maintenance, domain management, SEO optimization, Google Analytics, content management and other services specifically for pest management and service companies. There are packages and a la carte services available for businesses that want a new website, want to improve the performance and ranking of their website or just don’t want to bother with the hassles of managing an existing website (outsource the process to a trusted partner). This new addition to the ServicePro.net’s line up of products and services brings the company one step closer to becoming a full business solutions partner for those in the pest management and service industry.
The announcement also comes at a time when recent studies show the importance of having a strong online presence for businesses. Studies have shown that of the estimated 311 million people living in the United States (US Census Bureau, May 2011), more than half are adult internet users (Blogher, April 2011, Pew Research, May 2010). Pew Research Center’s May 2010 study found that approximately eighty-seven percent of these adult internet users are using their time on the internet to search and research products, services and businesses. What has fast become a realization for most businesses is that Google and other search engines are now considered the new Yellow Pages. Jim Jansen, Senior Fellow at Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project, September 2010, stated, “Many Americans begin their purchasing experience by doing online research to compare prices, quality, and the review of other shoppers.” This also holds true for comparison shopping between businesses.
As more and more businesses realize the importance to having a website, a blog, a Facebook or Twitter page and appearing on the first page of a Google search, there is a bigger need to have companies like ServicePro.net who focuses on providing online solutions to a specific industry.

NEW YORK — An Assured Environments pest control service team recently discovered and turned in more than $10,000 that had been hidden in an Upper East Side apartment, exemplifying the true meaning behind the company’s trusted pest control credence.
The Assured Environments crew was preparing the apartment for an upcoming bed bug treatment when one of the technicians found the money stashed on the top shelf of a closet. The money—which was inside two envelopes placed beneath stacks of clothes—was discovered along with watches, jewelry and a lockbox. “The crew didn’t even know how much money was in the envelopes; they just turned them in,” said Service Director Suad Kertebijev, recounting the details of the unusual event. “When they found out the amount later, they couldn’t believe it.”
The cash belonged to an elderly woman who had hidden it in the closet years ago and forgotten it was even there. While it is unclear why the tenant initially concealed the money in the apartment or how long it had been there, one thing is certain: The woman—who understandably prefers to remain anonymous — was ecstatic over the good-Samaritan-style deed carried out by the Assured Environments technician. The technician said he didn’t hesitate returning the cash because it was simply the right thing to do, according to Kertebijev.
Assured Environments Service Manager Angel Quinones, who was present when the valuables were found, is not in the least surprised by the technician’s honesty and integrity. “We have been the tri-state area’s most trusted pest control solutions provider since 1934,” Quinones said. “Our serviceman’s willingness to return the money to its rightful owner demonstrates the high standards our company upholds to serve the needs of our customers. Our clients can rest assured that we will look out for their best interest.”
