NEW YORK - Bird Doctor Nationwide recently installed a bird control misting system at the New York Mets Citi Field stadium in Flushing, N.Y.

Bird Doctor was contacted by Citi Field as a proactive measure to prevent birds such as pigeons from taking up residence in the new stadium. Installing the new Bird Control Misting system will help keep maintenance costs down, while maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of the stadium. Maintenance costs can soar if weekly cleanup of bird droppings is required; bird droppings are unsightly and can transmit disease.

The Bird-B-Gone Mist system distributes Methyl Anthranilate, a non-toxic liquid repellent approved by the USDA and FDA for repelling birds. This product gives birds an uncomfortable sensation by affecting the birds’ trigeminal nerve found in the beak. The repellent will not harm or kill birds; it simply causes them to avoid the area completely. Methyl Anthranilate is non-toxic and safe to use around humans and animals. The system involves a main control unit attached to a series of drop boxes and has the capability of covering 6-8 thousand square feet per box.

Recently, the NYDEC passed legislation allowing this repellent to be used in New York City,   New York was one of the last states to approve of Methyl Anthranilate for repelling pest birds.  Bird Doctor Nationwide believes it will change the world of bird control. Methyl Anthranilate can either be fogged manually using a Dyna-Fogger machine or distributed automatically in timed drop boxes, such as the Bird-B-Gone Mist system Bird Doctor installed at Citi Field.

Stuart Aust, president of Bird Doctor Nationwide, says the perfect candidate for a bird misting system would be “any business facing bird control problems such as birds nesting or roosting on ledges, pipes or beams.”
