BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — New Jersey-based Viking Termite & Pest Control recently donated installation and service of the Sentricon Termite Colony Elimination System to an injured war veteran who received a newly constructed, fully funded, LEED-certified home in Hillsdale, N.J., from the national nonprofit organization Homes for Our Troops. Dow AgroSciences donated the components of the termite baiting system.

“We’re honored to have the opportunity to give back to our community and support our troops,” says Tony Yochum, branch manager for Viking Termite & Pest. “Because this home was constructed as a green building, the Sentricon System is the ideal option to protect it from the threat of subterranean termites.”

“When trying to find an effective, responsible termite control method, Viking provided the perfect solution for our LEED-certified home,” says Rick Goyette, project manager for Homes for Our Troops. “The team has been phenomenal to work with and we’re extremely appreciative of its help.”

Additional environmentally responsible features of the home include insulated siding and walls, a rainwater storage tank, energy-saving appliances and much more.

The construction project was coordinated by Homes for Our Troops, an organization that helps injured veterans by raising donations of money, building materials and professional labor, and coordinates the process of building a home that provides maximum freedom of movement and the ability to live more independently.
