MADISON, Wis. - IPM Institute of North America announced that Nozzle Nolen’s ‘Nozzle Nolen Certified Green Solutions’ service and Environmentally Sound recently earned Green Shield Certification.

Nozzle Nolen becomes the first Florida-based provider to achieve this third-party credential. Customers in southern Florida now have the option of choosing the new Nozzle Nolen Certified Green Solutions service, ensuring less toxic pest control. The Green Shield Certified credential is offered by the independent, non-profit IPM Institute of North America that verifies company performance using a rigorous, on-site evaluation that examines 63 separate aspects of the pest control service.

Nozzle Nolen was founded in 1951, and has since expanded to five locations serving Florida's gold and treasure coasts. Nozzle Nolen has been firmly committed to effective, least toxic pest control since the inception of their All Natural Treatment service in the 1990s, Technical Director Paul Sugrue explained, "When green was just a color." Everyone can benefit from a green approach. Residential customers and commercial facilities including ‘green buildings’ will appreciate an emphasis on long-term solutions that reduce both pest complaints and pesticide use. For example, by carefully inspecting and sealing up gaps and holes on the exterior of structures, pest complaints can be reduced by as much as 65%.”

Environmentally Sound is the fourth provider in the nation to achieve this third-party credential for their entire company, and the first in New York. Customers in New York City now have the option of choosing services offered by the newly certified Environmentally Sound, ensuring less toxic pest control. The credential is offered by the independent, non-profit IPM Institute of North America.

Environmentally Sound was founded in 1992 by Jeffrey Woods and has been serving localities within New York State for more than 17 years. Woods started working in pest control as a technician and felt a need to move away from conventional pest control upon founding his own company.

"Environmentally Sound became a 100% Green Shield Certified company because we want to show everyone our dedication to being responsible, well-informed, and a role model towards a greener future for all," stated Zerlina Flores, Environmentally Sound's operations manager. "We take much pride in being the first company in New York to achieve 100% certification, and in remaining certified for many years to come."

Green Shield Certified is operated by the IPM Institute of North America, Inc., an independent, non-profit organization based in Madison, Wisconsin. Modeled after the Institute's award-winning IPM STAR program for schools, Green Shield Certified is available to pest control companies and services, as well as facilities other than schools.
