ROSWELL, Ga. - Spencer Pest Services recently donated $500 the Hope Lodge for cancer treatments in honor of a recently deceased Facebook fan, the company said.

In efforts to give back to the local community, Spencer Pest Services initiated a $500 cash giveaway to a deserving fan on Facebook to help cover cancer treatment expenses, the company said. The winner of the giveaway, Terri Jo, unfortunately lost her battle with cancer in August. Terri's family instead decided to give the $500 to the Hope Lodge, part of the American Cancer Society.

The Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their caregivers a temporary, free place to stay when receiving cancer treatments away from home.

Sheri Spencer Bachman, owner of Spencer Pest Services, presented the $500 check to two friends of Terri Jo and to Danny Sheltz, a representative of the Hope Lodge. "We are so thankful for this donation," Sheltz said. "We support 52 families per day at Hope Lodge and this will really help."
