Highlander Termite & Pest Control wins fumigation banner competition sponsored
by PCOC and Dow AgroSciences.
The winning entries in the “Fumigation Banner Bonanza Contest” sponsored by the Pest Control Operators of California (PCOC) and Dow AgroSciences, manufacturer of Vikane® gas fumigant, prove that a large, colorful and informative banner can be the best way to put a fumigation company’s name in front of hundreds of potential customers.
To enter, fumigation companies submitted photos of their banners featuring their business name and phone number along with a distinguishable logo. The banners had to be large enough to be read by passers-by, such as 4 feet by 8 feet, 3 feet by 10 feet, or 4 feet by 12 feet. The first-place winner received a $1,500 gift certificate, while second- and third-place finishers received $1,000 and $500 gift certificates, respectively.
Taking top honors was Highlander Termite & Pest Control of Shingle Springs, which won with a banner anchored by their business logo on a plaid background. The runner-up was Rancho Cucamonga-based Kill-N-Bugs Termite & Pest Control Services, which featured a caricature of owner Pat Murray. Taking third was Solid Rock Termite Control of Los Angeles, which utilized stone-textured lettering on its banner.
“When a fumigation business is conducting a whole-structure fumigation, people notice, thanks to the brightly colored tarps used to seal the structure,” said Drew Ratterman, marketing manager for Dow AgroSciences. “We’re excited to support this contest, helping fumigators capitalize on this recognition by using company banners to market their services and generate sales inquiries. In this year’s entries, we’re seeing that the spirit of creativity is alive and well with many of our fumigation partners.”
Earning honorable mentions were Monterey Bay Pest Control Operators, Monterey Bay area; Western Exterminator Co., Anaheim; Specialty Termite, Inc., Pleasanton; and Admiral Pest Control, Bellflower.
