Pest management professionals have a new tool to combat ants and a broad range of other household pests — Transport GHP insecticide from FMC Professional Solutions. According to the manufacturer, the product is uniquely formulated and provides fast-acting, long-lasting control. In addition to ants, Transport GHP insecticide offers control of more than 30 problematic pests. In one test, an application of Transport GHP insecticide provided 100 percent control of crickets, from one day after treatment to six months after treatment, FMC reports. Another advantage Transport GHP insecticide offers is flexibility of use. The product label does not have a fixed number of treatment restrictions, so Transport GHP insecticide can fit any application schedule, according to FMC. Transport GHP insecticide is available in a wettable powder formulation and packaged in a pre-measured water-soluble bag for ease and convenience of use.

DuPont Professional Products’ Advion ant gel is now registered for use in Florida. Advion ant gel will provide Florida pest management professionals with consistent, broad-spectrum control of multiple ant species including all key sweet feeders, plus carpenter ants and many others, the manufacturer reports. In addition, the new ant gel has proven in formulation testing to retain its viscosity under hot weather conditions. Powered by the MetaActive compound, Advion ant gel leverages the ant’s own enzymes to provide total colony control, even when multiple queens are present. The product has a strong attractant formulation, proven performance and a unique mode of action, DuPont reports. Advion ant gel has been registered by EPA under its Reduced Risk Program.

Bor-Ram, a new termiticide, insecticide, fungicide concentrate from Sostram Corporation, is a glycol-borate-based product. Bor-Ram is EPA registered as a primary subterranean termite pretreatment for new construction. It is also labeled for control of other types of termites, insects and decay fungi. When applied directly to wood and other building materials, the borate-based technology of Bor-Ram offers advantages over traditional soil-drenching termiticides, according to Sostram. It supports green building initiatives by creating a long-term borate barrier targeted at the food source, rather than a broadly dispersed barrier in the soil, the manufacturer reports. Target insects are eliminated when the borate enters their digestive systems, according to Sostram.
Bor-Ram also offers greater scheduling flexibility because its window for application (following framing) is longer than soil treatments. BOR-RAM is sold in 4 x 1-gallon cases and 250-gallon totes. For added convenience, it can be tank mixed with Sostram’s Mold-Ram fungicide to deliver whole house surface mold and mildew prevention.

Restaurants and other food-service facilities often experience sanitation problems associated with the build-up of kitchen grease (organic waste) in drains, cracks and crevices, and under heavy equipment. These problems include fruit and drain fly infestations, foul odors and clogged (slow) drains. When grease settles in these hard-to-access areas, foaming a biological cleaner is often the most effective treatment method. American BioSystems’ DrainFoam produces a high-quality thick foam that “clings” to drain sides and up, under and behind equipment. DrainFoam contains a proprietary blend of concentrated bioenzymatic actives that break down long-chain fatty acids — the primary component of problem grease deposits. DrainFoam can be applied with manual or power-operated foamers. DrainFoam may also be mixed with IGR’s and pyrethrins.
Manufacturer American BioSystems recommends using DrainFoam regularly (once or twice per month) as part of a sanitation program that includes frequent removal of trash, proper storage of all food products and daily floor mopping.
