In November, Lloyd Pest Control, San Diego, Calif., completed the acquisition of the accounts of Enviro-Safe Pest Management, Vista, Calif. Owner and founder David Swiecicki, a 20+ year industry veteran, joined the quality control department of Lloyd Pest Control.

Hulett Environmental Services, West Palm Beach, Fla., has expanded its operation to Ft. Pierce with the opening of a new facility at 2820 Reynolds Drive.

Commonwealth Exterminators, Lawrenceville, Va., has earned NPMA’s QualityPro designation.

Hoffman’s Exterminating, Mantua, N.J., celebrated its 15th anniversary on Oct. 21.
To commemorate the anniversary, Hoffman’s held a customer appreciation day, which featured food, music and a visit from the company’s mascot “Bugsbee.” William Hoffman started the business 15 years ago out of his home. Today, Hoffman’s services southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania.

Massey Services announced a new attraction at the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford, Fla., with the official opening of the Massey Services Insect Zoo, located in the new Wayne M. Densch Discovery Center. This exhibit has been in the planning stages for years, under construction for more than 10 months and opened in October with a special ribbon cutting and press reception. The Massey Services Insect Zoo was made possible by a donation from Massey Services.

Modern Pest Services, Brunswick, Maine, was invited recently to give a presentation on sanitation and pest identification to first-year culinary arts students at Johnson & Wales University, Providence, R.I. Chef Elaine Cwynar, saw a Modern Pest Services presentation on IPM performed by the company at a seminar for New England health inspectors, and invited Modern to address the students in her sanitation classes. The students were presented with real-life photos of pest management problems in food facilities and given direction as to how to conduct a pest management inspection of their own food facilities, as well as how to recognize a good pest management company.

In November, the New York State Pest Management Association recognized three companies and five people for their public service to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Those honored included Arnie Katz, Graduate Pest Control; Walden Flores, Walden Pest Control; and Greg Zarek, Jose Alomar and Gregory Schall, Metro Pest Control.

Atlanta-based Arrow Exterminators opened three new branches in Roswell and Blairsville, Ga., and in Franklin, Tenn. Arrow now has 52 offices located throughout the Southeastern and Southwestern United States.

Curtis Wegener, maintenance supervisor for the Yonkers, N.Y., Municipal Housing Authority, received a 2005 “Excellence in IPM Award” from the New York State Integrated Pest Management Program. Wegener recently marked 26 years with the 2,600-unit Municipal Housing Authority.
