1. What makes Vanecto Cockroach an effective solution for controlling tough infestations?
Vanecto Cockroach has a highly attractive bait matrix that thoroughly controls German, American, brown-banded and other cockroach species. University- and external-contracted research has confirmed that it shows higher consumption rates and preference over competitive cockroach gel baits when trialed on numerous field-collected cockroach strains.1 Its non-repellent formulation and ingestion activity also enable secondary and tertiary transfer to cockroaches that are less mobile, like nymphs, more effectively than other gel baits.
2. What features can PMPs expect from the product label, which is one of the most flexible in the industry?
Vanecto Cockroach was registered with Reduced-Risk status* from the Environmental Protection Agency, making it a great fit for sensitive sites or new accounts where there isn’t any knowledge of the past insecticide use history. It can also be used without personal protective equipment, and there’s no signal word on the label.
3. How does the unique mode of action of PLINAZOLIN technology work within exposed cockroaches?
Vanecto Cockroach features the active ingredient PLINAZOLIN® technology, which is the only active ingredient for pest management in IRAC Group 30. Its new mode of action affects cockroaches’ nervous systems by binding at the GABA receptor and inhibiting the flow of chloride ions through the channel. Muscles can only contract and not relax, leading to exhaustion and death. Fipronil is the only other pest management active ingredient that functions on the same receptor, but PLINAZOLIN technology has a unique binding site. That means cockroaches that are resistant or tolerant to fipronil can be controlled with Vanecto Cockroach without any cross-resistance.
4. Why should PMPs use Vanecto Cockroach as part of a resistance management program?
With its novel mode of action, Vanecto Cockroach can control difficult populations with known or suspected resistance. It is also an ideal rotation partner with Advion® brand cockroach gel baits to help prevent future resistance. These products are all recommended for use as part of our SecureChoiceSM Cockroach Assurance Program, which guarantees control when program protocols are followed. 5. Why is it important for Syngenta to invest in the research and development of new pest management solutions like the Vanecto insecticide brand?
Syngenta invests more than $1 billion annually in research and development. This enables us to continue exploring solutions like PLINAZOLIN technology across multiple formulation types, such as a sprayable formulation. Through these efforts, we’re developing next-generation pest management solutions that meet increasingly rigorous regulatory standards and help shape the future of the industry.
