Tucked away in Western Alberta, Canada, is the city of Grande Prairie, home of Green Piper Pest Control. Owned and operated by Grande Prairie native Dan Student, Green Piper has one goal: eliminating pests with the best solution available. For Student, this includes iQ products, powered by Bell Sensing Technologies.
When Student first tried iQ products, he didn’t immediately commit because — despite the rodent activity data and ease of service — non-smart alternatives were simply cheaper in the short term. However, after testing iQ products again, he realized they could change his business.
“We clean mice out of accounts a lot quicker,” said Student. “We now wrap up jobs in two months that would take four, five months before.”
This is because iQ’s rodent activity data allows Student to perform targeted service. For example, iQ data pinpointed exactly where mice were getting in at a residential account.
“You could actually see they were coming in through the garage then spreading to the rest of the house,” Student said.
The stations in the garage showed the most activity, then activity declined as stations got farther away. What makes iQ special is that this activity is visible regardless of bait consumption — even bait-shy rodents are tracked.

Once the homeowner sealed his garage, the activity decreased.
iQ products also show when the job is done. As opposed to leaving bait stations out longer than needed, rodent activity timestamps let Student know when he’s caught every rodent. At one account, he set Pulse Mouse iQ devices with traps in a camper with a mouse infestation.
“The owner wanted to take the camper out, but I asked him to leave it for another weekend because I was still getting activity,” Student recalled.
When Student came back next week, iQ data told an interesting story.
“There was activity everywhere, then, on Sunday night, we had timestamps at 10 p.m., 10:33 p.m., 10:35 p.m. and 10:40 p.m.,” he said, adding, “10:40 p.m. was the last time there was any activity for days, so it told me we got them all.”

Student said iQ’s free rodent activity reports also make a world of difference to his customers.
“It shows them the problem is gone,” he said. “It gives them peace of mind in their home and to use their camper. They love that.”
As Student serves the community he grew up in, he said he’ll continue to use iQ products to get the job done.
“I’m making a conscious effort anytime I order stock to get cases of Pulse Mouse iQ,” Student said. “I just bought a pallet of them.”
