SAN DIEGO — San Diego-based Lloyd Pest Control has acquired the customers of Newlin Pest Control, a pest control competitor with longstanding ties to the area.

Lloyd Pest Control is one of the largest family-owned pest control companies in the country, ranking 28th on the 2007 PCT Top 100.

“I know that the notion of a family-owned business was key to Chauncy Newlin,” says Lloyd Pest Control President Jamie Ogle, who is himself a third-generation proprietor. “His customers were family to him. And we like to treat our customers that way, too.”

Lloyd Pest Control recently celebrated 75 years in business, and was awarded the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics. The company has grown from a one-truck operation, in 1931, to a fleet of nearly 300 little white mouse trucks serving San Diego, Orange, and Riverside counties.

Newlin Pest Control served North San Diego County for 35 years. Owner Chauncy Newlin says that he is pleased to be able to pass his clients over to Lloyd Pest Control, and he is eager to enter the next phase of his life. "The family business has been good to us. My sons, Matthew and Christopher were helpful in the operating of the business for the last several summers. They both, however, have different plans for their futures than doing pest control in 100 degree weather. Therefore, I am retiring to spend my days with my hot rods, and doing my best to drive my wife crazy."
