ORLANDO, Fla. — Harvey Massey, chairman and CEO of Massey Services, was presented with the Howard Palmer Award by Florida Citrus Sports on April 8, 2010. The award was presented to Massey, a former Florida Citrus Sports chairman and long-time organization trailblazer, during the organization's annual Member Celebration held at 55 West in Downtown Orlando.

The Howard Palmer Award is given annually to a member of the community who, without regard for personal recognition, has maintained a long and active relationship with Florida Citrus Sports, continuously supporting and contributing to the success of the organization. Presented since the 1989-90 season, the annual award is the organization’s highest service honor and recognizes a "lifetime" of service to Florida Citrus Sports.

“Mr. Massey was a member of our Executive Committee and had already been involved for a decade when I joined the FCSports staff nearly 15 years ago,” said Florida Citrus Sports CEO Steve Hogan. “We have reached out for Harvey’s help and advice many times over the years and I can't recall one time when he didn't answer the call. That is an impressive level of commitment, not only to Florida Citrus Sports, but to our entire community.”

Massey has been involved with Florida Citrus Sports for nearly 25 years and has held various positions within the organization such as president (1998-99) and chairman (1999-2000). He currently serves as president of the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation. During his involvement with the organization, Florida Citrus Sports has hosted more than 100 events, including the Capital One Bowl, the Champs Sports Bowl, the Florida Classic, the Monster Truck Jam, the OUC Half-Marathon and the Spherion Orlando Citrus Parade. On an annual basis, Florida Citrus Sports helps to generate more than $70 million in economic impact to Central Florida.

“At Massey Services, we strive to ensure that all team members get involved in their local communities and support something about which they are passionate,” said Harvey Massey. “Florida Citrus Sports is a vital community organization that represents something I am passionate about and I’m both honored and humbled to be a recipient of this award.”

Massey Services is also very active with Florida Citrus Sports. Harvey L. Massey’s son Tony Massey, President and Chief Operating Officer of Massey Services, currently serves on the Florida Citrus Sports Executive Committee.
