PCT Top 100

Who made it? Who didn't? PCT presents its inaugural list of the largest 100 pest control firms.

Editor’s note: The profiles of the companies here were written by Lisa McKenna, a frequent contributor to PCT magazine. The Top 100 list was compiled by Jodi Dorsch and Dan Moreland, PCT’s editor and publisher, respectively. PCT made every effort to identify and contact companies that were likely to qualify for the list. Certain companies are absent because they elected not to disclose their 2000 revenues or PCT was unable to discern revenues through other means (i.e., Dun & Bradstreet, Internet searches, etc.). However, if your company should be listed, contact jdorsch@pctonline.com or click here.

It’s probably the one question presented most often to PCT magazine staff members: What are the biggest companies in the industry? Well, let that question be asked no more. PCT is proud to present the inaugural PCT Top 100, a comprehensive listing of the 100 largest companies in the structural pest control market, based on 2000 year-end revenues (although some revenue figures may include acquisitons made in 2001).

A few notes about this list:

PCT contacted companies throughout 2001 to be a part of the “Top 100” list. This included “tip covers” on some March issues, as well as another tip cover on all  September 2001 issues of the magazine, reaching 23,000 pest management professionals in all.

Companies were asked to provide the following: company name; contact; address; phone; fax; 2000 revenue; percentage increase from 1999; expected increase/decrease in 2001; year-round employees; percentage of pest, termite, vertebrate and bird control, and turf and ornamental work; number of branches; and names of company executives.

Companies in the PCT Top 100 generated a total of $3,134,025,276 in revenue in 2000. There were 32 states represented by the Top 100 companies, as well as two companies from Canada. California led the way with 14 companies in the Top 100.

Profiles of several companies in PCT’s Top 100 follow on the next several pages. PCT interviewed representatives of these companies to find out “their secrets of success” and tried to identify some helpful information about each that would benefit other companies in the industry. We selected companies of different sizes that focus on different kinds of accounts and are located in different parts of the United States. When we compile this list again, we will profile additional firms.
