Scott Stevenson, director of operations of Modern Pest Services, Brunswick, Maine, was elected president of the New England Pest Control Association (NEPCA) recently. Stevenson has been involved with NEPCA for eight years.
AgrEvo Environmental Health announced that Andrew Cloud has joined its Professional Branded Products group as product manager. Cloud will focus on promoting the DeltaGard brand as well as the company’s full line of pest control products.
Also at AgrEvo, George Raymond, marketing manager of AgrEvo’s Green Industry group, has been promoted to oversee the marketing efforts of AgrEvo’s Professional Branded Products in addition to those of the green industry. He began his career with the company 24 years ago.
AgrEvo also named Bill German as vector sales manager. In his new role, German will direct AgrEvo’s sales and marketing efforts for the vector market.
Doug Longfellow was recently named president of Rentokil Initial Inc. Pest Control Services, Norcross, Ga. He was formerly regional vice president for the division. Longfellow will succeed Jeff Mariola, who has been appointed president of the tropical plant services division.
Frank Gasperini has joined Van Waters & Rogers as manager of turf products. He comes to VW&R with more than 18 years in the turf and ornamental industry. Gasperini’s experience includes sales, marketing and management experience in turf, ornamental and other specialty pesticide businesses with DuPont, Gowan and most recently Lesco.
The following women were elected as officers of Professional Women in Pest Management at the NPCA convention in Nashville, Tenn.: president, Barbara Boone, Security Pest Management, Port Arthur, Texas; vice president, Donna Giacalone, The Bug Stop Inc., Chicago; secretary, Lori Frommer, Evins Pest Control, Great Neck, N.Y.; treasurer, Phyllis Hanstra, Reliable Exterminators Co., Lafayette, Ind.; and director of communications, Deborah Caylor, Nisus Corp., Rockford, Tenn.
Wellmark International has announced the addition of Larry Smith as director of sales for its Zoecon division. Previously director of sales for national accounts with Whitmire Micro-Gen Research Laboratories, Smith developed a strategic alliance with the company’s largest distributor and created a national distributor marketing program, resulting in increased sales. Smith also established a Canadian distribution system, allowing access to 85% of the target market.
LiphaTech has appointed Alan Smith sales and marketing manager for its pest control division. Smith will manage all sales and marketing for Lipha-Tech’s rodenticide product line. His primary responsibilities include establishing relationships with key customers, supervising LiphaTech’s pest control sales force and developing marketing and communication plans.
The Hawaii Pest Control Association recently awarded its Distinguished Service Award to Steve Fleming, the senior sales specialist for Dow AgroSciences based in Honolulu. The association provides this award on an annual basis to the individual who has done the most for the structural pest control industry throughout the year. Fleming has been the Hawaii-based manager for Dow AgroSciences for three years.
In other news from Hawaii, Carlton Agena, president of Dynamic Pest Control, has been elected president of the Hawaii Pest Control Association. Serving as vice president of the organization is Bob Sieb, president of Bugman Termite and Pest Control. Second vice president is Bob Koide, president of Environ Control, and third vice president is Ray Ah Chin of Hawaii Pest Control. The secretary will be Shawn Murray of Terminix International and Alvin Fukuyama, president of State Termite and Pest Control, will serve as treasurer.
Joe Saccente has been appointed vice president of ChemTec Pest Control Corp., Saddle Brook, N.J. Saccenete has served several different positions in the company since joining the firm in 1987.
RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment), the specialty pesticide industry association, has elected one new member and reelected two members to its Governing Board. Newly elected to a three-year term is Michael McDermott, manager of Professional Products for AgrEvo Environmental Health, Montvale, N.J. Reelected to three-year terms were James K. Champion, chairman and president, Riverdale Chemical Company, Glenwood, Ill.; and Chris Shadday, manager, Turf and Ornamental Business, Rohm and Haas Company, Philadelphia. Champion was also reelected to a one-year term as RISE chairman. Other RISE Board officers are Vice Chairman Keelan Pulliam of Zeneca Professional Products, Wilmington, Del.; and Treasurer Laureen Treu, business director, Specialty Products Group, Uniroyal Chemical Company, Middlebury, Conn.
Whitmire Micro-Gen Research Laboratories recently announced Steve Racioppe has accepted the newly created position of structural pest control sales manager. In his new role, Racioppe will support the com-pany’s sales team both in the field and with end-users.
In other announcements, Michele Imel has been hired as a regional technical specialist for the Midwest and John Loesch returns to Whitmire Micro-Gen as a regional technical specialist for the Southeast. Imel’s territory will include the Dakotas, Missouri, Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. She will work closely with Mark Sargent, the other Midwest regional technical specialist for Whitmire Micro-Gen, who will retain Illinois, Indiana and Michigan. Loesch, who worked for Whitmire Micro-Gen earlier in his career, has more than 20 years experience in the pest control industry.
In a final announcement, Ray Branz has been named customer service manager for Whitmire Micro-Gen. He previously served as manager of quality control and customer service for Arrow Group Industries. He brings more than 10 years of experience to Whitmire Micro-Gen and will be responsible for order entry requests and after sales service. Branz is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
Tim Saunders, former owner and president of Mission Pest Control in Laguna Beach, Calif., has been named to the board of directors of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation’s Orange County Chapter. Saunders will be in charge of awards and recognition for the chapter’s membership committee.
Lydia Cuevas joined Bell Laboratories’ sales and marketing team recently as a technical sales representative for Mexico, southern California and Arizona. Cuevas provides technical support and information on products to Bell distributors and assists them in sales and marketing efforts. Fluent in Spanish, Cuevas works internationally with Bell’s accounts in Mexico.
Also at Bell, Sara Busch joined the company’s sales and marketing team recently as an inside technical sales representative. Busch provides sales support to Bell’s in-house accounts and to other Bell distributors and PCOs as needed. She serves as a resource for technical questions from PCOs.
Robert Hoopes has been named chief financial officer of FrontRunner Technologies LLC, which develops software for pest control, lawn care, pool maintenance and other service industries. Hoopes was promoted from his previous position as project manager. Hoopes joined Front-Runner in 1997 and has been working in the company’s ad-ministrative and pro-gramming office in the Phoenix head-quarters since then. As CFO, he is responsible for managing the com-pany’s finances, including ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements of the company, which has tripled its workforce in the past 15 months.
Dr. Anne Parrish joins Cope-san Services, Inc. as director of technical training to the operations division. This newly created position will have Parrish providing technical and training support to Copesan’s two operating companies: Wil-Kil Pest Control in Wisconsin and Holder’s Pest Control in Houston. R.J. Advantage announced the company has received EPA registration for applying its ReJeX-iT TP-40 by fogging for control and dispersal of nuisance birds. The product is already registered for spraying on landfills and on non-fish bearing bodies of water but fogging gives TP-40 the added benefit of being a more practical application method for controlling birds at small, large and more diverse areas. Using standard fogging equipment, large areas can now be treated in one to six applications of 2½ ounces per acre to repel established bird flocks for the season.
