I would like to address some concerns — and some misconceptions — that have arisen about our recently introduced SpectracidePRO™ product line, which is being sold in The Home Depot locations across the United States. First, Spectrum Professional Products Group does indeed support the professional pest control industry. We are an active member of the National Pest Control Association and all of the major industry associations, and as such, we regularly participate in association-sponsored events. We also support the goals of the Industry Awareness Council (IAC). Due to our unique form of product distribution at The Home Depot, we are investigating how we can best contribute to the IAC effort. We are also exploring other avenues to further build industry awareness.
We developed the SpectracidePRO line specifically with professional PCOs and landscape contractors in mind. The product line gives smaller PCOs and landscape contractors another buying option — one that provides both convenience and, in many cases, significant cost savings. Also, medium to large sized PCOs and landscape contractors can take advantage of the convenience of The Home Depot hours as a way to supplement their buying needs.
We also recognize and value the importance of technical support. Our sales force is conducting ongoing product information sessions with The Home Depot management and staff so they can properly assist PCOs and landscape contractors with their product choices. In addition, MSDS sheets on each product are available in the stores at the point of sale. We have also created a toll-free technical support hotline, which is staffed by some of the most knowledgeable people in the industry.
The SpectracidePRO product line offers PCOs and landscape contractors the opportunity to improve margins and efficiencies, which helps them to provide a better service for their customers. Those satisfied customers benefit the industry on every level.
