David Fincannon, A-All Pest Termite Exterminators, Dallas, Texas, and Pi Chi Omega, have created a DVD titled “The Greatest Generation and the Modern Pesticide Revolution,” which chronicles the pest control industry prior to, during and after World War II. Fincannon, a Pi Chi Omega board member, created the video as a way to help preserve the industry’s past, and as a tribute to those who helped shaped the industry during its early years.
In this excerpt, the second to appear on www.pctonline.tv, Fincannon interviews WWII veterans who went on to become pioneering pest control industry professionals: Emille T. Pappas, John Osmun, Jim Steckel and Lonnie Holder. These men share some of their war-time/military experiences controlling pests and using pesticides.
