LENOIR, N.C. - A-1 Pest Control recently celebrated its 59th anniversary at the company's annual Founder’s Day Breakfast, held at Cedar Rock Country Club, in Lenoir, N.C. More than 90 employees from across its six office locations came together to reflect on the company’s history and honor its founder, Jack Roberts.
Yvonne Roberts, executive office manager, opened the event with remarks on the importance of commitment and going the extra mile. “At A-1, we strive to make a positive difference every day. Our success is a direct result of your commitment and hard work. From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” she said.
Bruce Roberts, president of A-1, spoke about the company’s early days, recalling how Jack Roberts purchased A-1 in 1966 with a single panel truck, a sprayer, and two customer accounts. He emphasized that the values the company was built on — honesty, integrity, and a strong work ethic — continue to guide its operations today. Several employees were also recognized for their long-term service, including Nelson Soots, who has been with the company for 54 years.
Jack Roberts addressed the group, highlighting the role each employee plays in the company’s journey. “Every one of you contributes to our legacy. Thank you for being part of the A-1 family,” he said.
Today, A-1 Pest Control operates as a full-service provider in western North Carolina, with offices in Lenoir, Hickory, Blowing Rock, West Jefferson, Mooresville, and Hendersonville/Asheville.
