Adams Bird Control Blocks 100 Pigeons from Colorado Convenience Store

Fort Collins, Colo.-based Adams Bird Control & Consulting serviced an account where about 100 pigeons were nesting and living.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Where once there were almost a hundred pigeons nesting and living, there are now just half a dozen hanging out in the early mornings on netting.

The management of Sandy’s Convenience Store located at the northeast corner of the I-25 and Highway 392 interchange in Windsor, Colo., has taken measures to keep pigeons from becoming a problem at their store.

“We noticed that there were a great number of pigeons flying around our store and bird droppings were becoming a problem,” said Carol Woelfle, manager of Sandy’s Convenience Store. “It was creating a situation that was potentially dangerous to both our customers and our staff — and the cleaning costs were adding up quickly. We also wanted an environmentally safe and humane way to get rid of the pigeons. We appreciate the extra effort Adams Bird Control went to in following up on the installation and making some adjustments to make sure our specific needs were met.”

“Sandy’s Convenience Store is an ideal situation for our gas canopy solution. They had a tremendous amount of waste building up on top of the canopy that was made up of bird droppings, urine, nesting materials and dead birds,” said Ben Adams, CEO of Adams Bird Control & Consulting. “Pigeons love gas canopies, and we have customized a solution that keeps them off the canopy and retrains them to live elsewhere.”

“We’ve been impressed by this solution,” added Woelfle. “There has been a huge reduction in the number of pigeons around our store — we occasionally see a few sitting on top of the netting, but we know they’re not really going to cause us any problems.”
