Jeff Ives, director of operations and technology, Rose Pest Solutions, Troy, Mich., said bioremediation drain cleaning has been successful for Rose because it has many accounts that need it on a regular basis. “Any restaurant or commercial kitchen can use this type of service,” he said. “It’s a relatively straightforward add-on service that helps our clients without them having to shop around for a different provider, and it’s a great way to increase our revenue per stop.”
Ives cautioned that selling bioremediation services is a much bigger challenge than servicing it, especially because it is not one of the company’s “bread and butter” services.” Clients that have not had problems relating to their fats, oils, and greases may be tough to get out of their expected maintenance routine, even when the cost of our treatment may save them money in the long run.”
Fourteen percent of those who responded to PCT’s poll said holiday lighting was their most successful add-on service. Bill Cowley, owner of Cowleys Pest Services, Neptune City, N.J.. said holiday lighting has helped his company “fill a desperate four-month slow period” of November to February. It has “filled this gap and kept the cash flowing through this slow period,” he said.
One of PCT’s LinkedIn followers Steve Ceol, operations manager of Ecotect Scientific Pest Elimination, Vernon, N.J., commented "none of the above," noting that “mosquito and ticks have been a great add on for us.”
