BELLFLOWER, Calif. — For the 6th year in a row, Admiral Pest Control is participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Admiral and its employees are actively donating and soliciting funds to support cancer research.
Last year the company raised more than $28,000 for the American Cancer Society and has cumulatively raised more than $80,000 for the ACS during the last 5 years. This year’s event is particularly poignant as Jeff Jones, Admiral’s Owner and VP has suffered a relapse of soft tissue sarcoma, which has required the amputation of his right arm and shoulder and David Gogue, long-time technician for the company is actively fighting throat cancer.
Admiral’s commitment to raising funds began more than six years ago when Jones woke up with a lump in his shoulder the size of a baseball, which literally grew overnight. After extensive treatment, the cancer went into remission. Unfortunately, doctors discovered relapsed in March. Despite the setback, Jones remains upbeat, saying, “This is just one of life’s challenges. I have a great family and a company filled with wonderful employees. I could have lost more than my arm several years ago but I’m still here. I am committed to being an example for other cancer survivors by raising money for research and by maintaining a positive attitude.”
