BELLFLOWER, Calif. – Jeffrey Jones, owner and vice president of Admiral Pest Control, has been fighting against cancer –his own and that of others — since he was diagnosed with it six years ago, the Press-Telegram reports.
Jones has brought together Team Admiral to participate in the American Cancer Society’s Bellflower Relay for Life for the fifth year in a row, this year’s event having taken place in June, according to the newspaper. So far in 2012, Team Admiral has raised close to $26,000 for the cause.
Jones told the Press-Telegram he was diagnosed six years ago after finding a lump underneath his arm pit. He lost most of the muscles in his right arm and was told he would never be able to use it again.
“The initial thing for me was total shock because I think, like a lot of people, I’m in charge of this, I’m in charge of that, and they can’t live without me,” he said of Admiral Pest Control. “All of a sudden you realize you have to figure that out because you’re not going to be there to do it, so you’ve got to fight for your life.”
