Aloha Termite won the contest with its colorful banner, complete with a rainbow and the company’s logo, which features Hawaii’s state flower, the hibiscus. In addition, the company’s name is easy-to-read in bold red block letters. The company’s logo, “Service with Aloha,” is featured, along with an offer for free estimates.
“We use banners on all of our jobs as a method of advertisement,” said Jonathon Montalbo, manager of Aloha Termite. “Banners are a great business builder. Neighbors see our company name on a fumigation job and think, ‘If our neighbors are getting their house fumigated, maybe we should too.’ There’s no better way to show the services our company offers.”
Members of the HPCA were invited to submit pictures of their companies’ banners on tented structures in order to win a top prize of $500. Requirements were simple; banners had to be large enough for passers-by to read, in addition to stating the company’s name, phone number, and PCO number. They also needed to have a distinguishable logo.
“We are happy to partner with Dow AgroSciences to offer this contest to our members,” said Tim Lyons, executive director of the HPCA. “Although this is our first banner contest, we feel it is important to communicate the power of advertising to our members.”
