KLICKITAT, Wash. — Earlier this month, Alpha Ecological was a sponsor of the fourth annual “Hunting with Heroes” event, a three-day outing in which 30 veterans were treated to a hunting and fishing trip. Alpha Ecological is led by VP Scott Sneer, whose family has a military service legacy. Alpha Ecological sponsors a multitude of community focused organizations, but one of their core community outreach efforts is centered on honoring veterans and active duty service men and women. This year’s “Hunting with Heroes” event was hosted by several guide services along the Klickitat River and Horseshoe Bend Ranch in Klickitat was the headquarters. Those who have bravely fought for our country were able to hunt deer, fish, play poker to win prizes donated by SOG Knives and Cabelas, eat delicious food and just simply relax. R. Lee Emery, AKA “The Gunny” and Jim Thurber from the Discovery Channel show, Gold Rush, were scheduled to attend the trip to show their support. True Essence Photography was on hand to capture pictures of the event.
The event occurred October 3-5 and a concert was held at Canyon Market on October 4 in Klickitat, Wash., to honor veterans. The band Countryfied and artist Shannon Bex was on hand to perform.
John Tarter, colleague of Alpha Ecological and four year volunteer, shares his thoughts on the matter: “There are a lot of organizations, like Hunting with Heroes, that in some small way show appreciation and try to give something back to the veterans for all that they have done. In the beginning, Scott (Alpha’s EVP) wanted to make the event a ‘CEO type experience.’ We offer upland game hunting, adventure and salmon and steelhead fishing, poker tournaments, massages, concerts and, of course, great food. It is exciting to see veterans from different wars come together, share a common bond, and relax together over a three day weekend. One of the best responses that I heard from a veteran was ‘I came back from Vietnam in 72, but I was welcomed home today.’”
While providing a trip for veterans to go hunting and fishing may seem like a small gesture, the impact is overwhelmingly positive on the lives of those that served our country. Alpha Ecological will continue to support veterans’ organizations for as long as the company exists. Scott Sneer, Executive VP of Alpha Ecological and one of Home with Heroes founding members also comments:
It is a powerful and rewarding experience to honor a hero. My dad, grandfathers, uncles, and brother-in-laws all served, so it is close to my heart. By partnering with Home with Heroes, Alpha Ecological can make the commitment publicly that we will not forget our veterans. We proudly support Home with Heroes for their efforts to celebrate our service men and women here at home.
