ANECPLA Celebrates 25th Anniversary

The Spanish association has been defending the interests of environmental health and pest control companies since 1992.

MADRID, Spain — The Spanish Association of Environmental Health Companies (ANECPLA) has begun the celebrations for its anniversary. The Association celebrates its first quarter of a century defending the interests of environmental health and pest control companies.

ANECPLA was founded in 1992. Giving voice to environmental sanitation and pest control sector was its first goal. The Association was born with some firm and clear objectives: to be the permanent and effective union of entrepreneurs and professionals, to protect and promote common commercial interests, to be a communication channel between the Administration and the sector and to collaborate with national and international organizations. Furthermore, the professionalization of the sector through training has always been one of its main characteristics.

ANECPLA brings together a total of 465 companies, which represent more or less 85% of the turnover of the sector in Spain. "The representation of an association is measured by the number of associates and ANECPLA has been growing in representation progressively in these 25 years, thanks to the trust of our members", said ANECPLA Managing Director, Milagros Fernández de Lezeta.

During all this time, one of the greatest achievements of the association has been the professionalization of the sector where unqualified practice was common. It is for this reason that ANECPLA has invested in training from the beginning with the creation of CEDESAM (the Center for Environmental Health Studies), at the end of 2015.

In the same way, in this quarter of a century, ANECPLA has been concerned with the importance of environmental health as a public health service. ANECPLA has worked hard to create awareness in the community as well as in the public administration authorities about the importance of pest control, the treatments to be used, the importance of prevention and the current sector regulations.

In these 25 years, ANECPLA has been recognized as a reference in the field of environmental health not only at national level, but also internationally, with its presence in CEPA, the Confederation of European Pest Control Associations. ANECPLA chaired CEPA during the period 2000-2002 and it is currently part of the Management Committee.
