GREENSBORO, N.C. — Arilon, from Syngenta, has received approval from California for use on more than 20 pests in residential and commercial settings. This expanded label gives PMPs in California more flexibility for controlling a greater variety of pests with a non-pyrethroid, non-neonicotinoid chemistry.
“PMPs in California need products that can consistently meet their unique business challenges,” said Pat Willenbrock, head of marketing for Professional Pest Management (PPM) at Syngenta, North America. “With the expanded Arilon label, PMPs in the state can expect the same great results with a wider range of pests to control, including fleas, flies and stink bugs.”
Arilon, with the active ingredient indoxacarb, is a selective insecticide with minimal effects on non-target insects. Its unique mode of action combines non-repellency and a slight delay in insect mortality, so Arilon can be shared among target insects. This helps ensure comprehensive control within 24-48 hours, Syngenta reports.
The following pests are now approved for control with Arilon in California:
• Beetles
• Boxelder bugs
• Carpenter bees
• Centipedes
• Earwigs
• Fleas
• Flies
• Grasshoppers
• Kudzu bugs
• Millipedes
• Pantry pests (including granary weevil beetles and saw-toothed grain beetles)
• Silverfish
• Springtails
• Stink bugs (including brown marmorated stink bugs)
• Wasps
In addition, Arilon can be used:
• Indoors as a spot or crack-and-crevice treatment
• Indoors as a crack-and-crevice treatment in food-handling establishments, as directed by the product label
• Outdoors as a flexible 10-foot band (5 ft. up the exterior and 5 ft. out from the exterior, or 3 ft. up and 7 ft. out)
• On commercial accounts as a stand-alone treatment, or used in conjunction with baits
• On residential accounts as a targeted perimeter application with 0.33 oz. per finished gallon of solution
“With the diverse range of pests to control in California, PMPs need solutions that fit their business needs,” said Steve Dorer, marketing manager for PPM at Syngenta, North America. “Because of the flexibility and extended control of Arilon, PMPs in California can avoid costly changes between processes and equipment when treating for multiple pests.”
