PHOENIX, Ariz. — Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano signed House Bill 2822, which disbands the independent commission that oversees the pest control industry in Arizona.
The Structural Pest Control Commission came under fire for cronyism and other issues last year when several board members stepped down after the firing of the executive director. Under the new law, the commission is temporarily replaced by the Office of Pest Management, overseen by an acting director, until the auditor general recommends how to restructure regulation of the industry in 2010.
