TEMPE, Ariz. – David Marshall, president and CEO of Arizona Pest Squad, was awarded the Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Advocate of the Year award by the Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council.
The council presents eight awards each year to those who excel in growth and performance. Marshall was presented the award at the Annual Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council Awards Gala on May 6.
“[The award] breaks the glass ceiling for minorities to open pest companies and recognizes [my] contribution to helping other small companies take advantage of these networking opportunities,” Marshall said. “This award has allowed us to work with Arizona's big successful companies and cities and local governments.”
In March, the company received several certifications including its Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) by the city of Phoenix. In addition, Arizona Pest Squad earned its Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification from the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council.
Arizona Pest Squad was founded in 2011 and is located in Tempe, Ariz. The company formed to specialize in integrated pest management, an environmentally conscious way to control desert pest problems. Since then, the company has added a humane snake and reptile removal to its residential and commercial services.
Before owning Arizona Pest Squad, Marshall took after his father and was in the music business as a market and promotions executive in Los Angeles. As a career starter, he was also a model and actor in New York City. In the future, Marshall said he plans to hire and train more technicians and expand on Arizona Pest Squad’s credentials.
“We are focused on growing the relationships we have made with Arizona's companies that work in diversity efforts that help all of us participate in growing the economy,” Marshall said.
