Jackie Grabin, Arrow Vice President, said, “Cancer, unfortunately, touches so many lives and the more we can do to benefit research and awareness, the better our chances are of beating this monster. Arrow is proud to play a part in this battle.”
The Running Club expects approximately 500 people to participate in this year’s event and to raise between $3,000 and $5,000. Prior to the 5K Run there is a quarter mile Fun Run for children under 12, and all the young participants receive a medal when completing the race. The 5K awards ceremony will be held after the race to recognize the winners and distribute prize monies. Merchandise vendors will set up booths and massage therapists will be on hand to make this celebration of fitness for women an enjoyable day for everyone.
This 5K Run has earned government support from New York State Senator Carl Marcellino, who has secured a Legislative Initiative Grant to help support women’s running and fitness on Long Island through this event, and the Town of Oyster Bay, through the office of Town Supervisor John Venditto.
“Arrow’s involvement is instrumental to the ongoing success of this event,” said Michael Polansky, President of the Greater Long Island Running Club. “Their generosity should serve as a model for other local businesses about the importance of philanthropic support for the communities in which they do business.”
