ATLANTA — Arrow Exterminators has partnered with Acworth Elementary on the school’s fundraiser “No Mosquitoes – No Malaria, Just Nets.”

The fundraising efforts are part of the United Nations Foundation “Nothing But Nets” campaign to raise money for African children losing their lives to malaria, a mosquito spreading disease. All monies will be used to purchase over 1,000 specially treated mosquito nets which, when hung over children’s beds, creates a protective barrier against mosquitoes. For two months, Acworth Elementary students collected funds through various school sponsored events and earlier this month Arrow Exterminators presented the school with a check to help them reach their goal.

Sid Malone, 4th grade teacher at Acworth Elementary, read about the nonprofit organization and spearheaded the fundraising efforts along with enlisting the help of Arrow Exterminators. “While at Acworth Elementary, I was impressed with the passion and drive these students had in raising money for children they’ll never meet,” said Rick Bell, VP of government affairs and technical service, Arrow Exterminators. Arrow is looking forward to returning to the school to conduct educational classes and provide students further insight into this horrible disease.”

“We’re proud of our participation in this event and will be encouraging other pest control companies to join in this worthwhile cause,” said Emily Thomas, chief operating officer, Arrow.
